Länna Möbler presents Accordion, a new folding table designed by Lisa Hilland. The table combines functionality with precision craftsmanship, offering a contemporary interpretation of one of furniture history’s most versatile typologies.
The starting point for the design was Hilland’s ambition to allow function to become the table’s aesthetic signature. Rather than being concealed, the mechanism is brought forward as a visual element. After studying both historical and contemporary folding tables, Hilland developed a construction in which the slats give the table a sculptural presence. As the table expands or contracts, its form shifts in a soft and controlled movement – reminiscent of how an accordion unfolds and closes.
“‘Form follows function’ has never appealed to me in its purest sense. But when function itself becomes beautiful – when engineering and art meet – something fascinating happens,” says Lisa Hilland. “My aim was to create a table where the mechanism not only solves a problem but becomes one of the furniture’s most expressive qualities.”

Accordion is developed for homes where flexibility is essential. The table can adapt to everyday life as well as larger gatherings, functioning equally well for dining, work or creative activities. In both its extended and closed positions, the construction retains its distinctive silhouette and sculptural character.
