I have always been fascinated by the connection between objects — and more specifically, the composition of objects and human emotion. Much like the written word, art, or fashion, design is another form of expression. Unlike the others, however, design is essential to creating the spaces and functions in which we live, meet, love, rest, and exist. We consume more design in our everyday lives than anything else and seek out surroundings depending on the emotion we are trying to evoke: a hotel to rest, a library to focus, a meeting room to converse, or a romantic restaurant to propose.
In fashion, watches, institutions, boats, cars, or any other industry, we have strong associations with brands that have made significant contributions to our lives through the cultures they cultivate. Yet within design, we struggle to name its creators, its curators, or its brands, and we are largely unaware of the mesmerizing stories and traditions that have gone into creating the surroundings we value and depend on. The yet-untold, unedited, and undiscovered world of design and its objects lies at the basis of NGLM Group’s existence.
